Head-to-Head Test Demonstrates SuperiorElectrical Performance of 10Gain® XP in New Video
Atlanta, GA, November 20, 2009 – A newly released video that puts the new 10Gain® XP (CAT 6A UTP) cable in a real-time head-to-head alien crosstalk performance test against a shielded cable and competitor CAT 6A UTP cable has been released by Superior Essex.
Tests show the 10Gain XP CAT 6A cable has alien crosstalk performance smiliar to that of an overall shielded CAT 6A cable, and electrical performance that is far superior to that of typical CAT 6A UTP cables.
10Gain XP CAT 6A cable meets the technical requirements of a UTP cable and is designed specifically for unshielded cabling networks. Additionally, 10Gain XP is compact in size - only 0.30 in diameter, making it a better option for installations with limited space than a typical UTP cable.
“10Gain XP is designed with a foil tape, with breaks or gaps, that surround the cable core. Gaps like this are distributed throughout, and prevent electrical continuity along the length of the cable,” explains Tim Waldner, senior vice president, marketing and product development. “While not technically a shielded cable, 10Gain XP does an amazing job of isolating the cable from outside electromagnetic interference. The end result is a CAT 6A UTP cable that performs like a shielded cable, but without the need for grounding or bonding.”
In the video, the tests are demonstrated using three 100-meter 2-cable bundles, each with a victim and distiburber cable. The tests were conducted in accordance with industry accepted procedures, with the exception of a reduced number of pairs under test so that the tests could be performed in real-time.
